Religion Part 1   by: Mondo Disgusto Mondo on his Soapbox

In response to Bruce Pressley, who asked "what do you think of church" I must do the following article. I can't, however, answer his question with a couple of sentences or even a paragraph or two. This is a serious subject. His question is rather vague. I'm not sure, exactly, what he wants to know, but I do know that there are many brothers and sisters out there who, like myself are searching for the truth, but have been trashed by, and aren't welcome in, the "mainstream" churches. Consequently this article is going to go long.

Part One; Bad Religion

Marx (or was it Lenin?) said, "Religion is a sop for the masses". Ted Turner said, "Religion is for losers". While I have no liking for these men, they are correct. Religion sucks. There are no other factors that have caused as much theft, murder, rape, torture, wars and destruction. More people have been destroyed in the name of JESUS than any other religious figure. People of one faith killing people of another faith. Fanatics killing atheists. Atheists killing faithful. So on and so forth, ad infinitum, ad nauseum. Where do people get this shit?

In my search, I looked into a great deal of "religious books". The one thing that they all had in common is that none preach violence. In the Koran there is a call for "Jihad", but only to protect Islam from being rubbed out by another "religion". In the Torah, GOD calls for the complete destruction of certain tribes, but only to keep his children from being corrupted by pagans. I don't know much about the Hindu religion (I just know that I can't worship a four-armed elephant) so I'm going to stick to talking about Christianity.

I am a Christian. It took several years of intense study to understand what He was saying. And I guarantee he never said anything about "convert or die". JESUS never preached any kind of violence. There was only one JESUS, who taught a relatively simple message, but there are umpteen different sects of Christians, each sect being divided into several off-shoots (probably fifty brands of Baptists alone), virtually all of whom have no true understanding of, or even try to follow, what He taught. They all know a splinter of the truth (JESUS is The Messiah), but have wrapped it up in a lot of narrow-minded, stiff-necked, mean-spirited religious bullshit.

Then you have the K.K.K., the various neo-nazi groups, etc., etc. who profess to be Christian, but preach hatred. They all hate Jews, but JESUS was half Jewish (on His mother's side). They also hate "niggers", "spics", "chinks" and "rag-heads". Ass-holes listen up. If you are really Christian, then Race, Creed, Nationality, etc. is not a factor, for we are all children of the Living GOD. You are either a white supremacist or a Christian, you can't be both.

In Part Two, I will address "Misinterpretations and Wrong Teaching".

This article is a bit of a change of pace from your usual crass style, but I think you're right on the money. And just for the record, it was Marx who wrote "Religion is the opiate of the masses".

I am a christian sister. And I also have this problem about hate. JESUS is the prince of peace, not hate. So I sat down in some serious prayer about this not to long ago. I asked JESUS why there is so much hate between the different races and religions. His answer was, if they would look at each other the way I look at them they would see. For thier spirit is all the same color and same form, and that is what will live in eternal peace and happiness with me. For life on earth and our outter selves shall pass away.

Hey, I'm a Christian and also love motorcycles. I't so simple...God loves us and desires a relationship with us. We get to God the Father through God the Son...simple. Check out the Christian Motorcyclists Asso. and join a local chapter. It's cool and a great way to serve the Lord and fellowship with great people who love Him and motorcycles.

Hey Mondo, I didn't go into any detail when I asked my question, but I thought I would tell you that I have been a christian for about fourteen years. I am an ordained minister and have pastored two churches, My wife and i started a ministry that was focused on troubled teens. In all this I am really fed up with the religious bullshit that is in our churches today. Our local church doesn't have a clue about ministry. To much focus on building up the church at the expense of people. Later.

Hay there Mondo
I read your bad religion articial.
I thought it was interesting.
I personally think religion, christianity or not is bad "religion" being the opertive word here.
Every religion including christianity has some sort of rule book of one sort or another, this bothers me especially in requards to christianity where as they say the bible is what they base everything on, but that is not true. There is the bible along with what ever denomanational rule book they happen to follow putting there rule book befor the bible. This is where I draw the line in the sand as far as I'm concerned. Sorry for being so lengthy, this religion thing doesn't set well with me.

The 10 commandments, great rules to live by. The rest is good stories for good behavior. I think organized religions ar mostly a money racket, I was raised a baptist by narrow minded hillbillies(love them very much) just don't understand there religion. They think middleasterners won't go to heaven, yet thats were jesus came from. They think there right but any other religion but theres is an occult, yet they don't understand the meaning of the word, nor will they listen to any explination. Narrow mindedness is the downfall of civilization, and money is the root of all evil. So I'll keep riding with the great spirit, hunting with my brother the wolf, and listening to the voices in the wind.R.W.T.W.

Religion was originally created to spread the "word" to the masses. Not many could read or write then, a preacher was needed. At this point in time, with all the resources we have available, I don't believe it's necessary and has turned into some sort of holier than thou art because I attend church on a regular basis and you don't. I recommend to seek spirituality, find god, then find religion. Religion didnt take me to spirituality. That's my experience, as long as I keep looking, I keep finding
